Giving Back

Our family is grateful for the success we have had building our small business in the Southport/ Oak Island area. We try to share our appreciation by Giving Back to the community and to the organizations that help make it a wonderful place to live.

Here are some of the donations we've made and causes we are committed to supporting!

Board Member

Our Why:  Gail has served on the board of the Friends of the Library since February 2020 as the membership chair. She was looking for a local organization to share her non-profit experience with and has always been passionate about literacy.

We join as members each year and in 2022 made a financial contribution to this year's matching gift campaign.

The match (up to $5,000) is anonymous BUT,  wewill tell you that it is one of our customers- thank you!!!

Donated Early Chapter Books

Our Why:  Witnessing our two boys learn to read has been one of our proudest moments as parenting. I loved listening to them sound out their first words! When they learned to read chapter books on their own was when their LOVE of reading really took off! Finding early chapter books that were at just the right level was key to developing this love instead of being frustrated that the books were too hard. We want to ensure that Brunswick County parents and their children have the same experience!

Donated books for teacher classrooms

Our Why: Most teachers receive minimal if any money to build a classroom library and end up spending their own money or asking for donations. Classroom books are used for teaching reading skills and student reading time. Having exposure to a variety of books at appropriate levels and across a wide range of subjects is vital to helping students develop a love of reading.

Donated books for Cindy's Angels

Our Why: Book ownership is closely tied to learning to read and success in school. Yet, on average low-income families have less than four books in their homes.
